The only time I called after a game...

Bill Roth...I’m sorry.

I know the players wanted it more than me. I know it meant more to the coaches and everyone in the program. I was frustrated too. I was a fan just a few years past graduation. I was using my spare money for season tickets. That was my only ‘extra’ at the time.

I remember the safety and the player (willie Wilkins). I think it is really the only memorable play from Tech that he had. I think he transferred or left the program shortly after.

I asked Bill what it would take to get offer that hump that I felt we were so close to getting over. I didn’t know how close I really was. I took my then GF (now wife of 25+ yrs) to the IndyBowl where.

I get it. In some ways...I miss those days of no expectations. I miss those days of buying the Friday US Today and seeing if we were mentioned in the upcoming games or teams to watch. I miss Mikes on game day. Steves or Underground on the way out of town.
